They are all simple activities that entail very little, if any, thinking and require us to STOP what we’ve been doing, stop thinking about whatever we were thinking about, stop whatever we’ve been agonising about.
When we simply STOP, our brains somehow go into another gear. Creative insights emerge. And solutions to problems that we thought were intractable can suddenly become clear.
Simple solutions and simple ways of handling life are far more appealing – and effective – for most people than trying to implement complex theories, techniques and strategies.
And for most of us, the simple act of stopping is a lot more attractive a prospect than adding yet more “doing” in a futile attempt to resolve whatever has been challenging us.
